UMUK 355

ULTRA-DISTANCE of 355km

UMUK 355 is a three-day ‘more than iron-distance but less than ultraman-distance’ staged triathlon of 355km, consisting of:

Day 1

5 km swim followed
by 100km bike

Day 2

195 km bike

Day 3

55 km run

DATES

Friday 03rd September to Sunday 05th September 2027.

LOCATION

Our event HQ is located in Betws-y-Coed.

Pre-race ‘meet and greet’ will take place in Betws-y-Coed (venue TBC).

With the exception of Day 1, which starts at Lake Bala (Llyn Tegid), all other stages start and finish at Race HQ.

Registration and event briefing will be done on-line.

CUT OFFS

Each day will have a 12 hour cut off, with the swim stage having a cut off of 6 hours.

SUPPORT CREWS

This event is unsupported ie. there will be no aid stations or road signage on the course. You must use a support crew, consisting of two adults and no more than one vehicle, who will accompany you throughout all stages of the course. Your support crew will be responsible for navigating the course and providing you with nutrition. (The swim stage is organised such that you will not require a support boat). Please refer to Rules and Guidelines for more info regarding Support Crews.

Qualifier for UMUK 515 (full ultraman-distance). Also, an ideal opportunity for those considering the full ultraman-distance to recce our stunning yet demanding routes.

Perfect introduction to ultra-distance stage racing and the different challenges associated with competing over three consecutive days.

Bridges the gap between iron-distance and ultraman-distance racing.

Beautiful yet brutal courses with no repetition. Just one big loop each day full of incredible scenery.

After each gruelling day, you get a well-deserved rest before tackling the next challenge!

A great weekend away with your mates! (if you choose to bring a support crew… and if not, make some new mates!). No other event comes close in terms of the bond formed between you and your crew over the three days.

We can’t guarantee you’ll leave with a finishers’ medal, but we can guarantee you will go home with incredible memories and a load of new friends!

HOW DO I ENTER?

Entry to UMUK 355 is by invitation only. Organisers will select and invite a maximum of 40 athletes on a first come, first served basis as the applications are received and if otherwise qualified. The selection of invitees will be based upon the experience, qualifications and criteria met for each applicant.

It is recommended that the applicant will have completed at least one iron distance race within the previous 18 months of the event being applied for. Other ultra-distance events are also considered as qualifiers assuming they have distances equal to or greater than iron distances. Other solo long distance events are considered if it is deemed they require the planning and training that would be of benefit to the athlete doing UMUK 355.
